Francesco Faenza

Hi, I'm Francesco Faenza

I am a researcher in ICT at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. My work focuses on Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, and Networking.

About Me

I am Francesco Faenza, a researcher at the Interdepartmental Research Center on Security (CRIS) at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. My expertise lies in Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, and Distributed Systems, with a particular focus on system administration, containerization and automation.

I hold a Ph.D. from the Interdisciplinary School of Engineering for Economics and Economics for Engineering (E4E) of University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. This interdisciplinary experience has allowed me to explore the intersection between social aspects and computer science, with a particular focus on researching the gender gap in Computer Science.

Beyond research, I have extensive industry experience as a full-stack developer, DevOps engineer, and IT consultant, specializing in cloud computing, microservices, and system administration.

Beyond my technical work, I am passionate about bridging research and real-world applications while promoting diversity in STEM through mentorship and educational initiatives.

When I'm not working, you'll find me on the rugby field, enjoying time with my two kids, or experimenting in my personal lab, where I explore 3D printing, CNC milling, and machine embroidery.

About This Site

This website was built as an experiment to better learn Rust! In particular, it was developed using Axum for the backend and Tera for templating.

🚀 Next steps include integrating SeaORM to set up a database and make the site less static.
